The Signals, Systems and Radiocommunications department at the Telecommunications School – Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (SSR-ETSIT-UPM) – is promoting a new Master Degree on Signal Processing and Communications Theory.
Our main objective is to provide our students with new insights and capabilities to face real problems in their careers, both in academia and research centres, as well as new professional opportunities in national and international companies. The Master degree is structured in three tracks. Two of the tracks address classical topics, covering most of national and international technological activities in which our department is a leader in Spain. The third track deals with new challenges in signal processing and machine learning applied to big data. It is intended to train professionals in an area that currently is highly demanded by companies in a wide range of sectors.
RF technologies and systems
The RF Technologies and Systems track is scheduled in 10 different subjects. There is a set of subjects dedicated to fundamentals and technologies: RF and antenna technologies, understanding and use of modern electromagnetic solvers, software radio, and advanced measurement techniques. On top of these technological subjects, modern radio communication systems are presented: Mobile Communications, MIMO systems, and Secure RF Communications. The integration of technologies and applications offer the students a new and fresh perspective of modern RF systems.
Radiocommunications and Multimedia
This track provides an integrated profile in radiocommunications and multimedia emphasizing most hot technological areas where our department is leading industrial transfer and basic research.
Highly experienced lecturers in each topic first provide a solid background, presenting modern insights on optimization, statistical signal processing, information theory and multimedia signal processing. Key technological ideas are then discussed, such as the design principles of communication systems and equipment, the very rich path from array processing to modern multiantenna systems, and advanced topics in multimedia representation, coding and content distribution. Finally, several currently very active subjects are covered, including secure communications, next-generation mobile communications, media production, and mixed reality and immersive environments.
